The Denver Nuggets (35-16) obliterate the Portland Trail Blazers (23-28) 127-99 behind Jokic's 29/13/9 to keep Carmelo winless against the Nuggets in Denver

The Portland Trail Blazers are playing their best basketball since the start of the season as they won the last four games on the wings of red-hot Damian Lillard. Following the recent victory over the Utah Jazz, the Blazers improved to a 23-27 record and are in the 9th place in the Western Conference.

The Denver Nuggets beat the Utah Jazz and upset the Milwaukee Bucks on the road before losing to the Detroit Pistons in overtime. The Nuggets dropped to a 34-16 record and are in the 3rd position in the West.

These Northwest Division rivals met twice this season, and the Nuggets won both encounters. Denver was better in six of the previous eight H2H meetings.

Lillard led the Blazers to a win over the Jazz with another 50-point display
Portland secured the fourth consecutive victory just for the second time this season. The Blazers defeated the Utah Jazz 124-107 at home, thanks to another phenomenal outing by All-Star guard Damian Lillard. The hosts shot over 50.0% from the field and also over 50.0% from beyond the arc, winning the rebounding battle (51-37) along the way. Damian Lillard led the Trail Blazers with a double-double of 51 points (nine triples) and game-high 12 assists. Hassan Whiteside posted a double-double of 17 points and game-high 21 rebounds, along with game-high three blocks, Carmelo Anthony added 15 points and five boards, while CJ McCollum scored 14 points. Jusuf Nurkic (leg), Zach Collins (shoulder), Skal Labissiere (knee), and Rodney Hood (Achilles) are out indefinitely.

“I’m just sticking to my routine,” Lillard said. “I don’t think people understand how easy it is — once the season gets going and you start wearing down and getting tired, traveling, personal stuff you’ve got to deal with, it’s easy to get sidetracked from your routine.”

This season, the Trail Blazers have the 9th offense in the NBA that averages 113.5 points per game, and they are facing the Nuggets’ 5th defense that allows 106.5 points per contest. The Blazers are the 8th in rebounds with 46.0 and worst in assists with 20.0 per game.

The Nuggets fell short to the Pistons in overtime
Denver missed out on an opportunity to record the third straight win after falling to the Detroit Pistons in overtime on the road. The Nuggets had a 21-point lead in the opening quarter, but the hosts managed to cut the deficit and get to the lead late in the second quarter. The game was tight at the end, and it went to OT, which the Nuggets lost 128-123. Nikola Jokic dominated with a triple-double display of 39 points, team-high ten rebounds, and game-high 11 assists, along with game-high three steals and two blocks. Will Barton chipped in with 20 points, nine boards, and five dimes, while Monte Morris had 19 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Paul Millsap (knee) and Jamal Murray (ankle) are out indefinitely. Mason Plumlee (foot) will miss the next two to three weeks, while Michael Porter Jr. (ankle) is questionable to take on the Blazers.
“I was so impressed with the start of the game on both ends of the floor,” Denver coach Michael Malone said. “We went to our bench and right when we went to our bench, it was like the bottom fell out.”

This season, the Nuggets have the 19th offense in the NBA that averages 109.8 points per game, and they are facing the Trail Blazers’ 25th defense that allows 114.7 points per contest. The Nuggets are the 18th in rebounds with 44.9 and 3rd in assists with 26.3 per game.

The Portland Trail Blazers, commonly known as the Blazers, are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team played its home games in the Memorial Coliseum before moving to Moda Center in 1995 (called the Rose Garden until 2013). The franchise entered the league as an expansion team in 1970, and has enjoyed a strong following: from 1977 through 1995, the team sold out 814 consecutive home games, the longest such streak in American major professional sports at the time, and only since surpassed by the Boston Red Sox.[9] The Trail Blazers are the only NBA team based in the bi-national Pacific Northwest, after the Vancouver Grizzlies relocated to Memphis and became the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001 and the Seattle SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008.
